I Will Bless Those Who Bless Israel

Hear the Word of the Lord:

“In those days and at that time,
when I restore the fortunes of Judah and Jerusalem, I will gather all nations
and bring them down to the Valley of Jehoshaphat. There I will put them on trial
for what they did to my inheritance, my people Israel, because they scattered my people among the nations and divided up my land. (Joel 3:1-2)

What will happen to those nations who do not heed the warning?

“The day of the LORD is near
for all nations.
As you have done, it will be done to you;
your deeds will return upon your own head.

Just as you drank on my holy hill,
so all the nations will drink continually;
they will drink and drink
and be as if they had never been.
But on Mount Zion will be deliverance;
it will be holy,
and Jacob will possess his inheritance.
Jacob will be a fire
and Joseph a flame;
Esau will be stubble,
and they will set him on fire and destroy him.
There will be no survivors from Esau.”
The LORD has spoken. (Obadiah 1:15-18)

The nation that divides Israel will be divided. The nation that forsakes Israel will be forsaken. Do we understand this? If so, we must impress upon our leaders the gravity of God’s warning. We must also double-up on our prayers for Israel.

This is what our God spoke to Abraham:

“I will make you into a great nation,
and I will bless you;
I will make your name great,
and you will be a blessing.
I will bless those who bless you,
and whoever curses you I will curse;
and all peoples on earth
will be blessed through you.” (Genesis 12:2-4)

Pray for the peace of Jerusalem:
“May those who love you be secure.
May there be peace within your walls
and security within your citadels.”
For the sake of my family and friends,
I will say, “Peace be within you.”
For the sake of the house of the LORD our God,
I will seek your prosperity. (Psalm 122:6-9)

  2. Gato says:

    Nowhere in scripture does God say that he will “bless those who bless Israel.” God says he will bless Abraham (Gen. 12:1-3), and that whose who bless Abraham will be blessed, and that those who curse Abraham will be cursed. Abraham is in no way synonymous with Israel. Israel (Jacob) was the grandson of Abraham, but so were a number of other people, so even blessing/cursing the grandson of Abraham (which is not even what the scripture says) would apply equally to all of Abrahams grandchildren, not just Israel and the Israelites.

  3. John said to the crowds that came out to be baptized by him, “You brood of vipers! Who warned you to flee from the wrath to come? Bear fruits worthy of repentance. Do not begin to say to yourselves, ‘We have Abraham as our ancestor’; for I tell you, God is able from these stones to raise up children to Abraham. (Luke 3:7-8)

  4. Michel says:

    Genesis 12
    King James Version (KJV)
    12 Now the Lord had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father’s house, unto a land that I will shew thee:
    2 And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing:
    3 And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.
    4 So Abram departed, as the Lord had spoken unto him; and Lot went with him: and Abram was seventy and five years old when he departed out of Haran.
    5 And Abram took Sarai his wife, and Lot his brother’s son, and all their substance that they had gathered, and the souls that they had gotten in Haran; and they went forth to go into the land of Canaan; and into the land of Canaan they came.

    Canaan is the current Israel. Look it up Gato!

  5. Do you read the King James Bible as only a geography book? It is that and so much more. Why ignore the whole of the Bible? Why ignore prophecy? You even have the geography wrong. Israel as a people were never associated with Canaan who worshipped other gods. Abraham has a covenant with God. That covenant remains today, no matter where the descendants of Abraham live geographically.
